Characterized by its secluded, wooded lanes, Northfield's quiet nature is coupled with its unique location to produce a small community that serves as both a comfortable home and an excellent access point to the North Shore and Chicago. Bordering and sharing schools with the surrounding communities of Winnetka, Wilmette, Northbrook and Glenview, residents have a wealth of community resources available to them. Despite having just over 5,000 residents, the town includes commercial and retail areas as well as extensive forest preserves, balancing all of these to create a community that embraces the best of the North Shore.
